Religious Education
We conduct classes in religious scriptures. Classes are offered in chosen common places or on-line. There is no fee to attend the classes. We only ask that you show seriousness of intent to learn and be regular and punctual in attendance.
1. ADULTS
Weekly classes are conducted on-line through ZOOM meeting software. These classes are conducted on Tuesdays evening from 7.30 to 8.30; Fridays evening from 8 to 9.30 and Sundas evenings from 6 to 7.
Coverage in each class varies.
Currently, the classes cover:
- Learning and understanding the meanings of slokas in Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam
- Learning to chant Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam and Sri Lalitha Trisathi
- Learning to chant Mooka Panchasati
- Other well known slokas on Durga/Lakshmi/Saraswati
As most of the above works are in Sanskrit, we also offer introductory courses in Sanskrit to help people gain a level of proficiency in reading and understanding Sanskrit. The following are some of the examples of the books that we use.
We are also beginning to build a library of books on religious studies which members can borrow from time to time for a small donation. Posted in the documents page are pictures of some such books. Further information can be obtained by contacting us.
2. CHILDREN
Sri Sankari is the name of the culture class for children conducted on Sunday evenings from 4 to 5. As part of this:
- Slokas are taught as per the Srimatam sampradayam.
- Interesting stories from our Ithihasas are recited.
- Bhajans are also taught
